 The Foundation for Airway and Maxillofacial Surgery, a nonprofit public benefit corporation, was established in 2004 by Marc Kerner, M.D., F.A.C.S. and Robert Hale, D.D.S. The purpose of the Foundation is to provide education and training, and to support medical and surgical research, in the field of sleep disorders, airway diseases such as sinusitis, and maxillofacial diseases such as obstructive sleep apnea.
In addition to on-going research projects, the Foundation sponsors educational courses at the National Meeting of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and regional and national dental and medical societies for advanced techniques in sleep apnea and sinus surgery,. The Foundation also sponsors courses for medical and surgical specialists in the field of GERD, sinus diseases, and obstructive sleep apnea. All of the courses that have been given in the past and those being developed for the coming years are designed to educate medical and surgical specialists on the latest advances in these various entities.
